Diploma Supplement Label Award to Istanbul Arel University

A Diploma Supplement (DS) Label has been awarded to Istanbul Arel University by the European Commission for the period 2013 - 2016, following the submission of a DS Label application by the University and its subsequent evaluation by independent experts. The Diploma Supplement Label is an honorary distinction awarded to higher education institutions that apply all aspects of the Diploma Supplement correctly.


The Diploma Supplement accompanies a higher education diploma, providing a standardised description of the nature, level, context, content and status of the studies completed by its holder. Its purpose is to facilitate the academic and professional recognition of qualifications across Europe and improve international transparency.,


A total of 36 Turkish universities out of 90 Europeans universities awarded the Diploma Supplement Label in 2013. Istanbul Arel University has been awarded a quality award which shows that issuing the Diploma Supplement in an excellent way. Diploma Supplement will facilitate the recognition and accreditation of a Turkish degree of employment and further studies abroad, but also in Turkey.


Diploma Supplement Label Award, was given to İstanbul Arel University on 17th of December 2014 in Ankara at Bilkent Otel. During the celabration, İstanbul Arel University was represented by the Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet ÇİVİ, Erasmus Institutional Coordinator Prof. Dr. Ayşen WOLFF, Bologna Institutional Coordinator Rsc. Asst. Serdar YILMAZ and President of Student Affairs Okan ÖZPINAR.


Diploma Supplement?


The purpose of the supplement is to provide sufficient independent data to improve the international ‘transparency’ and fair academic and professional recognition of qualifications (diplomas, degrees, certificates etc.).


In Istanbul Arel University, Diploma Supplement is being issued in a widely spoken European language (in English), given automatically and free of charge to every student at all levels of education upon graduation.


For students, the DS offers:

  • A precise description of their academic career and the competencies acquired during the study period,
  • An objective description of their achievements and competencies,
  • Easier access to opportunities of work or further studies abroad,
