Istanbul Arel University Takes First Place in the Ministry for EU Affairs Young Translators Contest
The Ministry for EU Affairs Young Translators Contest is organised by the Ministry of European Union Affairs with the aim of raising the awareness of students, studying in the translation departments of universities in Turkey, about the EU harmonization process and producing translations of the acquis, which require expertise and also aims to contribute to the training of translators in this field.
The contest, which has been organised annually since 2010, is open to students studying in the final year of a translation and interpreting or translation studies department or an applied English and translation programme of vocational schools at universities in Turkey.
This year a total of 140 students from 38 universities around Turkey offering education in the field of translation participated in the contest, which was held on 13 January 2018 in Ankara.
Betül BAYRAMOĞLU, student in the Applied English and Translation Programme of Istanbul Arel University’s Vocational School participated and successfully represented our University by coming in first place in the associate degree category in the English language.
